Voter Guides

SW Journal Voter Guide ~ Rebecca Gagnon said her priority for a third term on the School Board would be fiscal stability, which she said requires leadership stability. She noted in an interview she’s served with 17 different School Board members, two superintendents and one interim superintendent during her eight years on the board.“I believe that consistent, stable leadership is what the district needs right now more than anything,” said Gagnon, a mother of three, including two MPS graduates.

Women Winning Voter Guide ~ Rebecca Gagnon is a two-term citywide School Board Director in Minneapolis Public Schools running for re-election. As the incumbent At-large School Board Candidate in Minneapolis, she is running to continue the progress she has worked to build, including equitable access across the city to educational and extracurricular opportunities, and reducing administration and reinvesting more resources directly in to schools and classrooms. She will continue to work with Minneapolis students and families, understanding that public education must serve the whole child which is why she has championed longer recess, healthy farm to table meal programs, mental health supports, and the option of full service community schools.

Northeaster ~ “I take pride in being prepared, informed, and active in seeking out the information and depth of knowledge and understanding I need to do this incredibly complex and challenging work. I know as a Board, in collaboration and partnership with the Superintendent and other external partners, MPS is on the right trajectory ~ growing enrollment, increased graduation rates, investments in re-opening and expanding schools, and more recess and less testing. I am running for re-election because MPS needs stability and an experienced, committed and hardworking leader so that MPS is not just surviving but thriving in 2020.” Rebecca Gagnon
